O'HARE INTERNATIONAL, Chicago. Rod Conklin 76525, 3706
This is an enhancement of the Ohare International scenery file I
uploaded awhile ago. I wanted a more accurate file of the airport and
this is the result. Frankly, this one has so much to it that it is
a *dog* as far as frame rate goes. I decided to upload it anyway, in case
somebody else wanted it. I have included all the files necessary to
rebuild it (See below), so modifications can be made to customize it
to your own taste.
What's New:
1. All taxi ways are included. A hugh polygon covers the old airport
(except for the tower and fuel area which popped back up again).
2. The Commercial aviation area now has all hangers (somewhat crude
but usable). Fuel facilities are in most hangers. The buildings'
appearance is my own interpretation.
3. I added full SEE03 night effects, which the original lacked.
4. Air Traffic Control for Taxi clearance-takeoffs, and landings.
5. A new dynamic scenery file with lots of aircraft.
I. Files in this Package:
OHARE.ORG - ORIGINAL SCENERY FILE WITHOUT SEE03 ENHANCEMENTS
(TO USE, RENAME TO A .SC1 FILE)
OHARE.SC1 - THE ACTIVE SCENERY FILE MODIFIED BY LAEMMING
WHEELER'S EXCELLENT SEE03 PROGRAM.
OHARE.EZC - THE EZC.DAT FILE USED TO CREATE THE SEE03 ENHANCEMENTS
(REQUIRES SEE03 PROGRAM - TO USE, RENAME TO EZC.DAT)
OHARE.MOD - MOD FILE - FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 14L.
OHARE.DY1 - DYNAMIC SCENERY FILE.
II. A TOUR OF THE AIRPORT:
LOOKING NORTH:
1. THE SOUTHERN BUILDINGS ARE THE COMMERICAL AIR CARGO AREAS.
2. THE CENTER OF THE AIRPORT IS THE MAIN TERMINAL.
3. TO THE RIGHT OF THE MAIN TERMINAL AT THE END OF RUNWAY 4R
IS THE GENERAL AVIATION AREA AND MORE CARGO AREAS.
4. THE NORTHERN-MOST RAMP IS RESERVED FOR USAF OPERATIONS.
5. THE RAMPS AND BUILDINGS TO THE LEFT OF THE MAIN TERMINAL
BEYOND RUNWAY 4L ARE THE COMMERCIAL AVIATION HANGER AND
MAINTENANCE FACILITIES. THE UNITED AIR LINES SERVICE CENTER
IS AT THE NORTH END OF THIS COMPLEX.
6. THESE DESCRIPTIONS ARE ROUGHLY ACCURATE BUT NOT EXACT BECAUSE
THE MATERIAL I HAD TO WORK FROM WAS SOMEWHAT INCOMPLETE.
III. NAVIGATION STUFF:
1. THE MAIN VOR FREQUENCY FOR IS 113.9.
2. THE ILS FREQUENCIES ARE THOSE LISTED IN THE FS4 MANUAL.
THE FREQUENCIES IN THE SCENERY DISK ARE NOT AS COMPLETE.
IV. Air Traffic Control:
The Air Traffic Control system is simple, but I think it adds
a new dimension to the file. If you have SEE03, you can modify it
anyway you want. Let me know if you come up with some other ideas.
ATC Frequencies: 122.10 - Flight Service Station (Will give
you all other necessary freqencies)
121.75 - Ground Control - gives taxi Instructions.
119.00 - Approach Control - gives landing
Instructions.
135.15 - Standard FS4 ATIS
The Approach Control function is set up for two steps:
1. You contact Approach Control for landing instructions and
are directed to a VOR Intersection/Hold point and instructed
to call Approach Control on a differant frequency when you
reach that point.
2. When you call the second Approach frequency, you will be given
a vector (heading) to intercept the glideslope for the active
runway (in this case 14L) and will be cleared for landing.
